The dispute between the British government and the messaging company has intensified, due to which people living in the UK are likely to lose access to WhatsApp.

According to British media reports, under the British government's online safety bill, the agency called Ofcom will be empowered to control social networks in order to prevent content related to terrorism or child sexual exploitation, and user data in WhatsApp. It has end-to-end encryption (E2EE) protection that makes it impossible for anyone to access user messages.

According to reports, Meta-owned WhatsApp is not happy with this potential legislation by British lawmakers.

It is believed that in April last month, an open letter issued by other messaging companies, including WhatsApp and Signal, said that the new bill would not protect users from encryption and that Ofcom would protect users' private messages. There will be an emphasis on scanning, which will affect the privacy of users, if the law is implemented, the security of users outside the UK will be prioritized.

In March this year, WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart said in an interview that we will accept a ban on WhatsApp in the UK but will not compromise on security protocols. We will leave the UK if we feel we are being forced to compromise customer security.

Will Cathcart said that ignoring the security of WhatsApp users could cause problems for users around the world. However, British politicians have mixed opinions about this, with some opposing the bill. has been while others are supporters.
